The global workforce dynamics are undergoing significant transformation influenced by various factors including technological advancements, the post-pandemic landscape, the evolving economic environment, and the arrival of a new-age workforce. As organizations attempt to understand these changes, awareness of the global developments, trends, and changing employee expectations, especially of GenZs and Millennials, becomes imperative in maintaining and enhancing organizational efficiency and keeping employees motivated.
Emerging themes such as work-life balance, mental health, DEI, sustainability, and a tech-first approach have played a significant role in changing employee expectations, driving them to seek a role in organizations that prioritize the above. Also, Covid-19 acted as an accelerator for organizations, driving them to explore new and unique working models such as remote and hybrid.
To achieve national and organizational goals aligned with the changing workforce dynamics, it becomes imperative for organizations (both public and private) to understand the need to pivot and adopt a collaborative approach, combining technology with the human resources (HR) function. Investing in HR innovation can be accompanied with keeping employees engaged through a two-way communication channel, building a feedback-centric culture, and empowering leadership through training programs. The paper focuses on the above themes that can enable an organization to stay agile, adapt, and progress towards a collective goal of sustainable business growth whilst managing employee expectations.
